As you know, we travel for the celebratory beer at the end of the road. Just kidding. Although it does cause us to speed up our set up time. We are way slower tearing everything down. Celebratory coffee doesn’t quite give us the same spark.
The Navigator
The navigator was very busy today. I have messages to write, emails to catch up on, snacks to grab and every now and then I am focused on the backs of my eyelids.
We missed a couple turns and poor Pam had to ask me several times if we were on the right path. Admittedly, a couple times we were not. I promise to pay closer attention tomorrow. Although, I had never been to Ft. Benning and one of my times of inattentiveness took us there. The entry is quite stunning.
Amity
We made it to our destination, Amity, a gorgeous Corps of Engineers Campground. Here, see for yourself.

The lake you see is huge. It’s called West Point Lake. We are nowhere near West Point. Except we are. Did you know there is a West Point, Alabama and they have a West Point University? Go figure.
(Back to the lake) We are camping on a peninsula with tons of beautiful trees. Pam and I walked along the water until we came to the end of the waterfront. I wish we had more time here, time enough to kayak and bike ride. We saw a goose parade! If my phone hadn’t died, I would have shown you a picture of 10 geese waddling across the street. No worries, there’s no traffic. There’s hardly any people.
It is really quiet here, so quiet that Lucca wouldn’t go walking with us. Nope, she heard thunder in Miami and she wouldn’t leave the camper. That girl has a pair of listeners on her that can pick up a storm rolling in a hundred miles away.
Don’t come here if you’re looking for nightlife or even a restaurant. Good thing we defrosted some chili. There isn’t anything to do in or around Amity except relax, enjoy and be. That may sound boring to some but to me, it’s a piece of heaven and I need that every now and then.
This is our little piece of paradise tonight. None of these photos provide a perspective of the magnitude of the lake or its beauty but trust me, if you need a place to camp in Alabama, check out Amity. Okay, where’s my $50 for the testimonial?

What Will Tomorrow Bring?
Tomorrow we are driving to the state with three double letters, Mississippi. We probably won’t see much because it will be a longer drive. But if we get up early and move out quickly (chance of that is slim to none), maybe we can take a drive past Elvis’ birthplace cause we are headed to Tupelo, honey. Come on along…
Hi ladies, I’m catching up with you this morning.😁 what a peaceful view, Lucca doesn’t know what she missed that day.
Looks stunning! Poor Lucca with her thunder phobia.
Beautiful campground 🥰glad you made it safe and sound! Enjoy😀
