Rain Rain Go Away, Little Charlotte Wants to Play, Come Around Another Day.

For some reason, I woke up (Oops I wasn’t supposed to say that) and this is what I saw. NOTHING! I looked to my left and there was Pam white knuckling us through a monsoon. I suggested we pull over but Pam was nervous that life on the side of the road might be worse so we proceeded onward. Lucca was on the floor in the back with her head under the seat. Maybe I’ll join her.
Pam and I decided to eat the M&M Peanuts for fortitude. We felt a wee bit better. No, my teeth aren’t chattering, I’m crunching peanuts.
Hello Sunshine & Welcome to Mississippi

We were very happy to reach the visitor center in Mississippi and the rain had stopped. Lucca hopped out of the truck and immediately put on the skids. Pam could not convince her that the skies were clear. Lucca is our little meteorologist; she knows best when it comes to weather. Back in the truck she went. I guess there is more rain on the horizon.
Pam and I were happy to finally be out of the Tsunami and on our way to Tupelo and Tombigbee State Park. The directions to the park were clear enough but I do believe I heard banjos as we drove through the desolate parts.
Tupelo
When we finally arrived at the park, we checked in and hunted for our site. Because of the narrow tree lined road, Pam backed into site 6 with some difficulty. She’s an expert backer inner so when backing in is complicated for her you know it ain’t easy. Our celebratory beer was well deserved.
Lucca reluctantly left the truck and went for a quick walk. See that tail, she’s not a happy camper.

But alas, we had been cooped up long enough and we decided to go for walk around the campground and Lucca came too. Until…

See that tail? We were happily strolling along and then we heard the sound of gunshots. Lucca tucked her tail between her legs and dragged Pam back to the camper to safety. Poor Lucca cannot catch a break today.
Undeterred by the gunshots, Pam and I continued our walk. There were some trails but Pam said, “Let’s not go. There might be Mosquitoes and Ticks and Flies, Oh my.”

Three guys came up out of this trail with backpacks. They said they were having the best day ever. The entrance to the trail is as far as I hiked. I don’t care about Mosquitoes and Ticks and flies. I care about poison ivy and gunshots. “Let’s go spend time with Lucca. “
A Couple Minor Issues Today
Issue 1: On our drive, we checked our bikes and found that the clamp that helps to hold my bike to the bike rack had fallen off somewhere on the road. Pam’s is still attached. Home Depot was an unexpected stop. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the clamp. I hope my bike doesn’t decide to hop off.

Issue 2: When we arrived at Tombigbee, we opened the slide and found some hanging wires. We don’t know if they’re attached or even what they do but Pam shoved the wires back into the crevice and we both hope they continue to do whatever they do.

RV Dinner
If you are interested in our eating habits on these short stints, I have suggestions for future campers. A couple months before the trip, I make double size dinners and freeze them. Our RV freezer is full of meals that we can put in the refrigerator in the morning and quickly heat after a long day of travel. Good thing we did that. The last two campgrounds were not near restaurants. We would have eaten cheese and crackers with wine, of course.
Last night we had vegetarian chili and a salad and today we had cabbage soup. Both are much more heathy than cheese and crackers.
You gals are moving along! Sorry to hear of the weather not participating, but tomorrow is another day. Be safe!
Yes we are moving along. These one nighters are tough. Our favorite time so far was in Hot Springs. We had 3 days of fun.
So glad y’all made it through that storm…heard it’s left a lot of flooding 🫠
Poor Lucca…she’s a trooper( y’all too😂)
Enjoy the breaks, food and brewskies 🍻
Stay safe, love all of ya!🌹❤️
Thank you Seester! Yes, it was a white knuckle drive for sure. Lucca has been so good – just lying in the floorboard remaining quiet. Today, we had 2 cold brews at different pubs and it was the perfect addition to the warm afternoon. We loved reading your comment!
I so enjoy following your journey. Thanks for sharing it.
So glad you are joining us on our trip. Love the comments. So good to hear from you.
Sounds like you found Camp Deliverance!! We are cheering Lucca on (and you two!!!)
Yes. That’s how we felt. Pam said, You don’t have to take me back here again. That’s what mom would have said.
