#1 Adventures Begin Here…

Welcome to day 1 of our big trip. We aim to bring you some RVing perspectives as we rocket through our destinations at a gopher turtle pace. There may be some humor along the way and possibly a few unexpected learning opportunities that require patience. Mostly we want to share beautiful views and cross country experiences with you. Don’t expect the great American Novel. The blog may be more like a The Archies Comics.

Come along and let’s all have some fun on this trip.

2 Days Before Departure.

What is Charlotte doing?

As we were packing the camper, I sorta kinda got stuck in the bedroom. The screen door opened 4 inches at best. Pam came to my rescue and was able to open the door enough so I could get out. With some WD40 and a large screw driver we were able to open the door to its fullest.

However, every time we closed the door I was stuck again. I believe hammers are underrated. A few swift bangs on the door jam and I was free! I know my thumb appears to be in a precarious position but somehow I missed it. Off to a good start.

1 Day Before Departure

It was 8AM on another muggy, brutally hot morning. Pam, the cautious one, was out early checking the air pressure in the tires. She reentered the house like a lightening storm and just as dark. “We have a nail in one of our tires.”

If you recall our Maritimes trip, you may remember that Charlie, our RV repair guy, came to our rescue the day we were supposed to leave. He fixed our hitch and saved our trip.

Once again, Pam called emergency Charlie and by 10:00 he had raised the trailer, removed the tire, took it to the repair shop for a patch and we had four good tires on the camper. Pam was smiling and that’s always good for me.

That evening our friends, Janet and Bill, brought us pizza. Packing for a 2-month trip takes a lot of preparation and even more perspiration. Pizza made us happy. Right before they arrived, we were cleaning out the refrigerator. I was removing stuff that wouldn’t last 2 months and Pam was dumping or pulverizing it in the garbage disposal.

When you run a garbage disposal shouldn’t the water and gunk go down and not up into the sink. I’m sure by now you can guess which way our gunk was flowing. This time, Bill came to our rescue. The plunger didn’t fix it so Bill took the plumbing apart and cleared all the blockages. There were several.

Janet and I supervised while Bill and Pam did the heavy lifting. “Good wine, Janet.”

As a test, Bill turned on the disposal.

The disposal works great! The test…Nothing a little mop, bucket and Lysol won’t fix. Thanks Bill for fixing our disposal.

Today is the Day.

Hop in. We are meeting Helen and Steve (Sister & Brother-in Law) for lunch and then scooting up to Georgia to spend the night at Eagles Roost RV Park. Let’s hurry!!

We made it all the way to Georgia. Only 8000 miles to go. Whenever we arrive at a new campground and stop for the night, we have a celebratory beer to toast our safe travels. Join us.

Tomorrow it’s Alabama. It should be a short journey and a relaxing 1 night stay. Come Along and we’ll see you there.

    1. Hey Sue, Thanks for taking the time to read the blog. Maine and Canada are definitely worthwhile camping spots. So much to do and so much beauty. Getting a lot of exercise too, walking and biking. It’s worth the aggravation.
